We’re officially entering our Barbie era here at Jumper 1234 HQ!
As Barbie fever grips the globe, we’ve been getting inspired by some iconic Barbie fashion, Margot Robbie’s press tour outfits and more.
The creative power behind all the movie’s looks is Oscar winning costume designer Jacqueline Durran. In a recent interview with Vogue, she said:
“Barbie really is interlinked with fashion, because how you play with her is by dressing her,” “Clothes are her form of expression.”
Director Greta Gerwig leans into the idea that Barbie, contrary to the belief of many, is revolutionary for her time. Barbie rocked the toy world by giving girls a whole new experience – finally playing with someone who's in control and had autonomy, with dreams and aspirations and a purpose. Instead of just a baby doll. It was a total game-changer. Gerwig celebrates Barbie, she’s not just a doll, she's a trailblazer for girls' imagination and fun.
So, running with that theme of imagination and fun we’ve put together some of our favourite Barbie inspired outfit ideas and styles.
Think Pink

What colour immediately springs to mind when we think of Barbie… PINK! No Barbiecore fashion inspo would be complete without a full array of pink. Designer Durran also took inspiration from summertime pastels: lavender, bright blue, light blue; green, orange, beige; pinks and yellow.
As colour lovers, we’re 100% behind this stunning palette. Durran has created iconic Barbie looks throughout the movie, paring these colours in a smashing technicolour array.
So, how can you bring a little Barbie sparkle to your wardrobe?
The original Barbie
The very first Barbie, that launched in 1959, sported a monochrome black and white striped, 50’s strapless swimming costume. Paired in perfect style with some white shades and a ponytail.
Robbie also sports a nautically inspired, with a Barbie twist, outfit in the movie. Matched to perfection of course by Ken, played by co-star Ryan Gosling.
Now we haven’t branched out into swimwear, yet. But we have just launched a stunning collection of stripes. Classic Barbie pink, in multiple shades, plus many more of the Barbie inspired colour palette, orange, blue, and monochrome as featured on the original Barbie.
With two magnificent styles to choose from, our 100% cashmere crew is lighter weight, so a seasonally transitional piece. In a slightly shorter length, this couples perfectly with some high wasted jeans or chino trousers. For a more “Barbie” look you could pair with a pencil skirt, or a silk slip dress.
Our Cashmere and Guernsey wool blend is super soft and ultra-comfy. In a slightly oversized fit, this style is all about comfort. With some shoulder and rib detailing, this is will be your new wear on repeat style.
Barbie is all about being practical, believe it or not! According to Durran, the key feature of her fashion is that it perfectly matches her destination and activities. It's all about being fully dressed and ready for whatever job or task comes her way. She's the embodiment of functionality and style combined! So, in true Barbie fashion, these are versatile day to night styles, you can dress up or down, making them perfect for every occasion.
90’s classic

Robbie attended a Barbie event in Sydney donning a Vintage Versace look, from the mesmerising autumn/winter 1994 collection. It flawlessly captures Barbie's signature style with a metallic pink pleated skirt and a cosy high-neck knit, jazzed up with delightful purple socks and classy white heels.
We’ve got two sensational roll necks, in two different shades of pink.
Our 100% cashmere roll neck comes is hot pink. Perfect for pairing with a metallic pleated skirt, like Robbie, to live your 90’s Barbie fantasy.
Plus, our lightweight cashmere and wool blend roll neck, comes in eight, yes eight, colours! A colour blocking essential for the season.
Western inspired
Western Stampin Barbie gets restyled in the movie, with a more modern take on Cowgirl chic. Robbie dons a delightful pink waistcoat and tie up pink pants.
Get the look with our sleeveless, neon pink cardigan, or our 100% cashmere vee neck tank. Both styles go flawlessly with a skinny jean, for a fashion forward nod to western Barbie.
If you’re a fan of the lace up look, we have a brand new style, unlike anything we’ve designed before.
Roller Barbie
Roller Barbie is all about fun. We’ve got some adorable details in our latest designs, so why not add a little enjoyment to your wardrobe.
Cheeky Check
In the movie and on the Barbie press tour we see many different checked outfits, inspired by vintage Chanel and Prada.
We’ve got two new styles that embody this timeless print, with our signature Jumper 1234 twist. Say hello to the hearty check, this luxurious design features charming hearts and checks intarsia. Crafting this beauty was no easy feat, but the result is truly something extraordinary. Fab, fun and totally Barbie, in our opinion! Available as a cardigan or jumper, matching twin set anyone!
